Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ«'s Accelerated BSN (ABSN) lets adults with a bachelor's degree in any field become a registered nurse in under two years: one pre-term semester, then five semesters of nursing and clinical coursework. Classes run in 8-week sessions, daytime with evening and weekend options, in hybrid and in-person formats at our Oak Brook location and at St. Augustine College in Chicago. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and Lewis pre-licensure graduates earned a 98% first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate in 2023 and 2024.

• Time to completion and cost: A 6-semester program – first semester is pre-term and then 5 semesters of clinicals. Part-time options are available for 7-8 semesters in length.
  
  
• Program format: Accelerated 8-week courses are offered in the daytime with evening and weekend options. Courses are hybrid and in-person and offered at our Oak Brook location and at St. Augustine College in Chicago.

For those who are looking to complete a degree for the first time and for those who currently hold a bachelor’s degree in another field. Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« has a holistic admission process that considers academic metrics, life experience, and personal attributes. This supports a diverse classroom and learning experiences which prepares graduates to practice in a variety of settings.

The accelerated nursing program at Lewis allows for more flexibility for working professionals as you work towards your BSN.

Courses are offered:

• Full-time or part-time

Admission Requirements

Enrollment is limited to students who:

• Have a 3.0 Admission GPA
• Students will need to take an assessment test upon admittance if you do not meet one of the following criteria:
• Composite ACT 22 or greater with a minimum reading score of 22 and minimum math score of 22
• Composite SAT 1100 or greater with a minimum reading score of 560 and minimum math score of 540
• If unable to submit ACT or SAT, then the ability to take and submit an official TEAS result as listed below
• Successfully pass the TEAS on the first attempt
• If unable to take the TEAS, the KAT can be taken at Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ«
• Have satisfied the science and nursing prerequisites courses.

Prerequisites

Before starting clinical coursework, ABSN students complete the science and nursing prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better. These include Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology. Required science courses must have been taken within the past 10 years. Not sure where you stand? Our admission counselors will review your transcripts and map the fastest route to your start date.

Accelerated BSN FAQ

How long is the accelerated nursing program at Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ«?
Full-time students finish in six semesters, one pre-term and five clinical semesters, in under two years. Part-time students finish in seven to eight semesters.

Can I work while in the Accelerated BSN?
Many Lewis ABSN students do. Evening and weekend courses and a part-time option are built for working adults, so you can keep your income while you train to become a nurse.

Do I need a bachelor's degree?
Not always. The Career Transition pathway is for adults with a bachelor's degree in another field. The Degree Completion pathway is for adults without a bachelor's who have a 3.0 GPA, have completed general education and nursing prerequisites, and pass the entrance exam.

Is the Lewis Accelerated BSN accredited?
Yes. It is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN.

Can a nursing job help pay for it?
Lewis nursing graduates hired by Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox can receive up to $27,000 in student loan repayment support.
