The Spring 2026 Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« First-Year Writing Showcase is now available online at lewisu.edu. This semester’s showcase features 10 outstanding student works representing a range of genres, including narrative, rhetorical analysis and research-based argument.

Each semester, faculty in the First-Year Writing program nominate student writers whose work demonstrates excellence in areas such as idea development, critical thinking, organization, voice, creativity, language use and writing and research processes. A faculty review panel then evaluates the nominations and selects the featured honorees.

These Spring 2026 selections highlight students enrolled in ENG 10300 – The Essay, ENGL 11100 – College Writing 1, and ENGL 11200 – College Writing 2.

Featured writers and works include:

  • Alyssa Anil – “You are the Art”
  • Arjun Krishna – “Closing the Gap”
  • Breanna Ocupe – “Stepmothers in Media: An Enchanted Problem”
  • Cesar Villa – “How AI is Transforming Future Technology in Aviation”
  • Evan Camargo – “Becoming Me”
  • Feliz Gaviria – “The Representation of Women Air Transport Pilots in United States Airlines and the Unique Barriers Women and Minorities Face in the Industry.”
  • Hadley Rogge – “Journey to Physical Therapy”
  • Julian Lusancarez – “My English…Little: Finding My Voice Above the Clouds”
  • Paul Cimino – “Digging Deeper in Literacy”
