Muench, White Earn Publication in Prestigious Literary Magazine

Dr. Simone Muench, a professor in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ×îÐÂ×îÈ«’s English Studies Department, and a professor emerita of English studies, Dr. Jackie K. White, were honored with the publication of two of their works in the Spring 2026 issue of Emerson College’s literary magazine, .

Their works, “Remedios Varo as Night Sky” and “Ithell Colquhoun’s Landscape of Scylla and Pines” reflect the magazine’s high standards for publication, demonstrating vivid, inventive and emotionally rich writing.

Dr. Muench, a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship and faculty advisor for the has published seven full-length books. Her collection “Lampblack & Ash” received the 2004 Kathryn A. Morton Prize.  

Dr. White, a consultant for Jet Fuel Review, is the author of three chapbooks, including collaborative work with Dr. Muench, as well as the co-author of the full-length collection “The Under Hum.”

Ploughshares, based at Emerson College, is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most prestigious literary magazines and has featured award-winning writing recognized in major prizes and anthologies.
