Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« has expanded resources to support students at risk or currently experiencing homelessness while attending classes in Chicago and Romeoville, thanks to a $50,000 Illinois Board for Higher Education (ESHI) grant.
As a Lasallian institution with core principles of concern for the poor, respect for all persons, and an inclusive community, Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« has been working to support its students’ basic needs and those at risk or currently experiencing homelessness.
This grant strengthens the work underway at Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ«’s Chicago and Romeoville locations to address the root causes of student homelessness and basic-needs insecurity. The ESHI funds support targeted services—housing stipends, emergency aid, and wraparound services—designed to provide long-term stability for at-risk students and those currently experiencing homelessness.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ×îÐÂ×îÈ« (HOUSE) Liaisons continue to serve students, foster collaboration, implement innovative solutions, and ensure that students have access to the assistance they need to succeed. HOUSE Liaisons proactively inform students about available resources, identify students most likely to be experiencing basic need insecurity, and enhance faculty and staff training to identify and refer students at risk.
