Meet Center Team

Student Wellness Center

The staff is a multi-disciplinary treatment team of health and mental health professionals dedicated to serving our campus community. Counseling interns from collaborating universities are also key members of the clinical team.

The Center also employs student workers to assist with clerical duties. Student workers have limited access to patient information. All team members sign a confidentiality agreement for their roles in serving students.

Mary Bienias

Mary Bienias, BSN, RN

Campus RN

Mary serves as Campus RN at the Student Wellness Center. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Marquette University. Throughout her career she has a the privilege of caring for a wide range of patients from young people to older adults. She looks forward to serving as a supportive resource for students, while promoting their health and well-being throughout their academic journey. Outside of work, Mary spends much of her time cheering on her kids at their activities that range from karate to School of Rock performances.


Jamie Witting

Jamie Witting, MSN, RN, APRN

Health Services Clinical Supervisor & Nurse Practitioner

Jamie is a proud alumna and serves as the Health Services Clinical Supervisor and Nurse Practitioner at the Student Wellness Center. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Saint Xavier University in Chicago and her Master of Science in Nursing here at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ×îÐÂ×îÈ«. Jamie is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a diverse clinical background in emergency nursing, urgent care, sleep medicine and health information technology. She is here to support students in all aspects of their health whether it be managing an illness, offering guidance, or helping them build long lasting healthy habits. Jamie is passionate about making healthcare approachable and wants every student at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ×îÐÂ×îÈ« to feel heard, supported, and empowered to take charge of their healthcare needs. Outside of work, Jamie enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends including her two dogs and attending her nephews’ sporting events.

Christi Boegl, MA, NCC, LPC

Mental Health Counselor

Christi serves as a Mental Health Counselor at the Wellness Center. In her work with students, Christi values facilitating a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment for her student clients to heal and grow. She primarily draws from attachment based, client-centered, cognitive behavioral, and compassion focused counseling approaches. Believing that we all have inherent worthiness of love, she values journeying with students to discover and live from greater truth, freedom, belonging, and healing. Christi has her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wheaton College and her background in nonprofit international work in the Middle East and North Africa. She has experience working with students with a variety of mental health concerns and specializes in helping students navigate areas such as grief/loss, depression, self-esteem, trauma, and anxiety. She counts it an honor to walk alongside students she serves at Lewis U.

Eduardo Castillo, MS, MA, LPC

Mental Health Counselor

Eduardo is pleased to return to Lewis U as a Mental Health Counselor. He previously served as a Clinical Counseling Intern in 2020/21 while completing his graduate work. Eduardo is an English/Spanish bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his master's degree in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Sport and Human Performance from Adler University. This dual focus has developed Eduardo's competency to work with professional, elite, and novice athletes. He supports clients with integrated cognitive, behavioral, humanistic and motivational approaches. Eduardo specializes in working with adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and bereavement, emotional dysregulation, and academic stress. He also provides psychological skills training to teams, coaches, and individual athletes to help them manage mental health and maximize their performance. Eduardo meets clients where they are in their sport and identity development, facilitating their growth as both an athlete and an individual.

Tracy Metcalf, PhD, LCPC, NCC

Director of Student Wellness Center

Tracy is the Director of the Student Wellness Center. She earned her B.A. in Applied Sociology & Political Science, with a minor in Business Administration, from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ×îÐÂ×îÈ«, followed by an M.A. in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision from Governors State University. Tracy is dedicated to supporting students holistically, helping them improve all areas of their lives to achieve a sense of wholeness. She focuses on empowering individuals to reach their full potential in various aspects of life. Her counseling approach is warm, direct, encouraging, and supportive. Outside of her professional work, Tracy is passionate about social justice advocacy and has volunteered for over 10 years at Guardian Angel Community Services in the sexual assault division. She also enjoys traveling, listening to music, and being present in the beauty of God’s nature.

Sarah Condon

Office Coordinator

As the Office Coordinator, Sarah works to make sure all aspects of the Student Wellness Center run effortlessly. She received a dual Associates Degree from Joliet Junior College in Marketing Management & Management and Supervision and plans to enroll with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ×îÐÂ×îÈ« to obtain a Bachelors Degree in the Psychology field. Sarah has previous experience working on social, emotional, and behavioral learning with adolescents. She enjoys connecting students with the necessary health and counseling services the wellness center provides and believes her experience will benefit them and their goals. In her free time, Sarah enjoys time with family and friends, specifically her children’s sports and extracurricular activities.

Clinical Intern

Kiswa serves as a Clinical Mental Health Intern at the Student Wellness Center. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Benedictine University. She is currently pursuing her master's in Counseling Psychology at The Chicago School. She has a wide range of experience working with clients in behavioral health settings. She is looking forward to being a support system for the community and students at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ×îÐÂ×îÈ«. Outside of work, Kiswa spends much of her time working out, hanging out with friends and family, and trying out new coffee shops.

Julia Handzel

Julia Handzel

Graduate Assistant

Julia received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Benedictine University. She has completed her dietetic internship, where she has worked in a variety of settings, such as inpatient, food service, community, private practice, and wellness. Julia is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ×îÐÂ×îÈ«. She enjoys meeting and engaging with different people. Julia is a two-time cancer survivor who was diagnosed in her freshman year of college. From this experience, she found a passion for both physical and mental wellness. Julia’s goal is to become a Registered Dietitian and a Counselor so she can understand eating disorders from a nutritional and mental health perspective. Through her own experience, Julia understands that there is more than just schoolwork stress that can negatively affect students. This is what motivated her to work at the Student Wellness Center. She believes that you never know what someone is going through, which makes community outreach so important. Julia is looking forward to interacting with students, staff, and the community. She hopes to connect with the community, provide resources, and make a difference in the lives of others. In her free time, she enjoys making coffee at home and going on walks.

Chijioke (CJ) Nwosu

Graduate Assistant

Chijioke (CJ) received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Judson University. CJ is currently pursuing a graduate degree at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ×îÐÂ×îÈ« and plans to specialize in orthopedics or sports medicine upon graduation. CJ recently completed his collegiate basketball career and is excited to transition into the role of a full-time student and begin the next chapter in his life. As a Graduate Assistant, CJ looks forward to serving as a resource within the Student Wellness Center and supporting both students and staff throughout the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ×îÐÂ×îÈ« community. CJ background has taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, leadership, and the importance of maintaining both physical and mental well-being. Outside of school and work, CJ enjoys spending time with friends, listening to music, and studying.
