Mediation Training

Students around a table discussing.Mediation works through a Restorative Justice lens of Peace and Justice where practitioners provide a process necessary for human flourishing including conflict transformation and collaboration across differences. Work toward just peace is actively self-reflective, anti-racist, and evolving. Mediation reinforces a variety of techniques, theories, and frameworks that empower people to resolve their interpersonal disputes and conflicts.

Participants of the training will understand the application of an effective mediation process as a Third-Party Intervenor who facilitates an opportunity to transform conflict into a win-win resolution. This training emphasizes building conflict resolution skills and abilities.

Much of the pedagogical experience will involve critical reflection about human interaction skills and social behavior as well as simulated conflict scenarios involving role-play activities to develop confidence in employing mediation. Trainees will demonstrate proficiency in mediation by passing a comprehensive certification examination.
